Winter Breakdown

Winter is coming and if its like last year you need to be prepared to drive in it. Last year was declared coldest in many parts of the country. Many cities recorded record snow fall and set records for storm damage. Many drivers were not prepared and were stranded in bad weather. Here are some ideas on how to handle winter and breakdowns.
If you live in an area or plan on visiting an area that can have some bad winter weather you need to be prepared. About five million people were caught in bad winter weather last year. They were stranded and some did not have the proper equipment with them to be prepared for the cold. If you know you are going to travel in areas that have snow fall you need to make sure you have good tires. It may sound bad but you need to prepare for the worse especially if you are in an accident. An accident is stressful but worse if you are in sub zero temperatures and heavy snow fall.
It is smart to have your mechanic do a check list before the winter starts or if you are going on a trip where bad weather happens. Have them inspect your tires, battery, brake system and wind shield wipers and replace them is they are worn. You may want to invest in snow tires if you know the area has large amounts of snow fall. Make sure to check your antifreeze and keep you gas tank more then half full. If a storm hits it is important to have clear wind shields so make sure your defroster is working good.
